Ahmet Mümtaz Taylan, born on September 12, 1965, is a prominent Turkish film, television, and theatre actor and director. He is best known for his role as İskender in the surreal comedy series “Leyla ile Mecnun” and has been involved in various theatrical projects and films.
Taylan graduated in theatre from Hacettepe University State Conservatory and has had a successful career spanning several decades. He worked at the Diyarbakır State Theatre between 1989 and 1993 and also collaborated with Roberto Ciulli at the Theatre an Der Ruhr in Germany from 1993 to 1994
In addition to his acting prowess, Taylan has also delved into directing and won the İsmet Küntay award for Best Director for the play “Misafir Sahneleyişi” in 2002. He has been an influential figure in the Turkish entertainment industry, having served as the General Secretary of the Devlet Tiyatrolar Sanatlar Derneği (State Theatre Artists’ Association) until 2006
Taylan’s notable works include appearances in films such as “Once Upon a Time in Anatolia,” “Toss-Up,” “Bad Cat,” and “Toll Booth” . He has also portrayed the character Cemal Sandiki in the TV series “Halka”.
