Matteo Rovere is an Italian film director, screenwriter, and producer known for his work in the Italian film industry. Born in Rome on August 26, 1976, Rovere developed a passion for storytelling at a young age. He studied Film Production at the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia in Rome, one of Italy’s most prestigious film schools.

Rovere made his directorial debut in 2006 with the critically acclaimed film “Opium: Diary of a Madwoman.” This psychological drama explored the dark and complex world of addiction, earning him recognition as a promising new talent in Italian cinema. He followed up with “Drifters” in 2011, a gritty crime film set in the world of illegal street racing.

However, it was Rovere’s 2019 film “Romulus & Remus: The First King” that solidified his reputation as a visionary director. This historical epic, set in ancient Rome, tells the story of the legendary founding of the city through the eyes of the twin brothers Romulus and Remus. The film received widespread acclaim for its stunning visuals, gripping storytelling, and powerful performances.
