Born on October 17, 1932, in Toccoa, Georgia, Anderson’s remarkable strength and athletic prowess set him apart from an early age. His journey to fame began when he won a gold medal in the heavyweight division at the 1956 Melbourne Summer Olympics, setting a new world record with a total lift of 1,098 pounds.

Anderson’s feats of strength extended beyond weightlifting, as he became renowned for performing incredible feats of power, such as lifting cars and elephants.
