They have two sons – Tom and Arthur – and a girl, Matilda. Her grandfather was photojournalist Horace Nicholls.  In childhood films, she was Sarah Nicholls. She appeared in her early 20s in David Lynch’s The Elephant Man, Richard Loncraine’s The Missionary and Brideshead Revisited as Cordelia.
